Christian Merli racing the Osella PA21 4C Turbo in Tenerife
On Saturday, Christian Merli is racing at the 21st edition of the Subida Arona – La Escalona in southern Tenerife, Canary Islands. His Osella PA21 4C Turbo with the 1170 cm3 and 400 hp engine will bear the competition number 2. There will be two practice runs in the morning and three race runs in the afternoon. All on the same day. Last year the event was characterised by cold and rain. Unusual weather conditions for the Canary Islands, and the Scuderia Vimotorsport driver at the wheel of the PA21 4C still finished second overall behind Simone Faggioli, who was racing the 3 litre Nova Proto NP01.
Christian’s comment before the race
“It was a pleasure to accept the organiser’s invitation, and we mainly want to have fun. We’ll definitely be in good company. Simone Faggioli will be there with his Nova Proto NP01, together with the drivers of his team. Our own team colleague Alexander Hin with his Osella FA 30 will also be at the start. There will be around ten 3-litre cars that can aim for the podium. There are two practice runs and three race runs. The track is 4.400 km long. It starts immediately with fast and wide third-gear hairpins with straights between them. Half way through, there is a series of equally fast double bends, then there are more straights and tight hairpins, followed by a final stretch with third-gear corners. We’re hoping for good weather. They are forecasting clear skies at 24 degrees.”
